Show COLUMBIA OPENS HIGH GRADE' COPPER Development in Red Streak Uncovers Splendid Vein of Remarkable Ore. The splendid vein of copper opened in the Columbia mine a couple of weeks ago by the Dederich brothers not only holds out but appears to be improving, says the Good SpriDgs Gazette. A sample brought into camp Thursday, and which is exciting much admiration, admira-tion, -is of copper glance, running perhaps per-haps 70 or 80 per cent. The strike occurs at a depth of 220 feet to the right of the main shaft, in virgin ground, and the presence of iron, in which the ore occurs, is considered as a favorable indication that large ore bodies may be encountered. Since shipping a car of high grade ore about the seventh of the month, the work done at the Red Streak has been purely development in character. This work, however, has resulted in the taking tak-ing out of seven or eight tons of remarkable re-markable copper ore. , At present the floor of the tunnel is in solid ore and a winze is being sunk, preparatory to cross-cutting to estimate the extent of the vein. This is a continuation of the same phenomenal ore bodies found in the upper workings. . i |
