Show s. ELY DISTRICT IS THRIVING; j 1918 OUTLOOK PROSPEROUS Future Bright for Gold, Silver, Lead, Zinc, Tungsten and Manganese, as Well j as Copper. ; TI 1 10 Kly district is thri ins most prosperously a Ions mini us lines and liif? produetiou of this coining coin-ing year sliov. s promise of being iai ,';cr t iuii) ever. This does nut mean copper alone, hut gold, silver, lead, zinc, tuns'.si en and manganese as well. The Xevada Consolidated ('upper eoin-pm.y eoin-pm.y is put tin;; in I lie neiuborhood of 1 ".,0u0 tons of copper ore through the ro:i collator at MeOill every twenty-four hours. T!ie ore is mined by si earn sliovel. in tho Liberty and Kmeka Tits at Conner Fiat . and bv underground workings at Ruth. The Nevada Northern railroad hauls tins ore to Ile(;i!l, where it if concentrated both bv tables and by flotation. The Consolidated Cop perm ines company, com-pany, whir-ii was formerly known as the Giroux, is working a larze force of men and is only wetting a sood start. The company recently increased the capacity of (he flotation plant at Kimberly from i 'Ai'.' to ImhO tons a day. The ore body that is being worked through the Girou?; shaft is t he best grade and most prom-isimj prom-isimj in the district. This body contains fl great deal of ruby copper or crystallized crystal-lized cuprite: also considerable native opper.. as well as chalcopyrite. azurite. malachite and small amounts of chryso-colla chryso-colla and ehaleanthite. In excavating behind the mill i a few days aso a vein of oj twenty feet wide was uncovered which assays C per cent copper. The company is devising plans at the present time to make the plant efficient along all lins, and in tiiis way conserve fuel and supplies. Much Activity. There is a considerable activity anions the leasers around La"' city. The most of the mining is for zinc lead and silver. Some of the carbonate ore found runs as high as 5" per cent zinc. This, as a rule, carries very little if any silver. There has oeen more good grade lead silver ore shipped from Hamilton this year than in any other season for the past twenty years. Besides that already shipped t here is a great deal more on tiie several dumps and in sacks ready foi shipment. The majority of the leasers have shut down for the winter, but some of them will continue mining and wait till the roads open in the spring before shipping. The Ward mine is sending out about fifty tons of a good grade lead ore each day. and this -could be easily increased to 100 tons if the transportation facilities facili-ties were available. There is a fine body of ore blocked out and development work will probably be done during the winter. The Muncy Creek district is coming to the front witli a large body of high-grade high-grade copper ore that carries considerable consider-able silver. The property is under the management of C. D. Ray of Salt Lake. There also are good lead and zinc ores. Mr. Ray has mode arrangements with the county commissioners to build a road from the mine to a siding on the Nevada Northern rail roar below Cherry Creek, which will shorten the haul about six miles. He expects to be shipping in the near future. The opening of this district will help Aururn. Red Hills, Four-Mile. Jlight-mile. White Croud, Eagle and Tungstonia. Shipping Steadily. The Lucky Deposit property at Aurum V lias been steadily shipping all summer. The ore runs 7 to 8 per cent copper and about a a ton in gold, and silver. The shipping point is Currie. W'icher and McDonald have shipped Ihree or four cars of high-grade lead ore from their property, about fifteen miles north of Osceola, on Mount Moriah. This mine was struck-, according to the story, by some cowboys who were shoeing a fractious broncho. It seems that the broncho was a "bad one." but not tough enough to go barefooted in the rocks, and during the operation of putting on the shoes he covered a good deal of territory. ter-ritory. In doing this he knocked off a piece of nearly pure lead sulphide ore. The ground was located and the three or four cars shipped are some of the direct results. There have been a few carloads of a very good lead -silver ore shipped from Hunter and there are promising prospects pros-pects for the work to continue in the spring. The Willow Creek district is still showing show-ing fine. The shipments made from there have averaged around 50 cents a pound in gold values. Henry Goodman has charge of the old Willow Creek mine and has acquired the late discovery of Steve Pappas. This new discovery looks very good, according to reports. The company is installing a five-stamp battery and it will be pounding ore in the near future. Lacev and Clary have shipped three cars of lead-silver ore from the Red Hills mine, situated about fifteen miles north- nst of Aurum. This ore was taken out of the upper levels and it is reported that tlmv have bonded to Tex Hall and a Mr. Russell, who are developing the lower levels of'lhe mine. M r. Ames has shipped ten or twelve t", i s of fair grade copper ore from the Lelkcr mine In Ruby valley. Tungsten Prospects. There are a great many tungsten prospers pros-pers in the vicinity of Ely. but the prevailing pre-vailing low prices for these ores do not permit any extensive development work beins done. The production of tungsten from i his dist rict in the last year has been small for this reason. However, a Jew companies have done considerable work, especially ai Tungstonia, Nev. The ore -there is principally huebnerite. which fi'jr is a manganese tunstate. The mine is located in a cross granite range and is a (rue fissure vein, which is uncommon for a Hums ton property. The ore body Is Vsald to be one of the best of its kind in the 1'nited Stales. The Minerva Sehcelife. property has been sold to Oscar Werner and C. B. Van Winkle of I.os Angeles. The property prop-erty is located about twenty miles south of Osceola in .he Snake range. The new owners plan in 'do development work through the winter and erect a mill in I he (ipting to treat the ore. The United States Tungsten company operated a mill about twelve miles south of Osceola for some lime, but has shut down and advertised the mill for sale. There has been a number of cars of manganese ore sent out from the Holm-U'list Holm-U'list mine. The mine Is situated in the low hills on t he east side of Step toe valley, a liule sout h and east of Kly. Xearlv all the ore shipped has run -10 nor cent, or better. In manganese. The limits of the ore bodv have not yet been located. Three shafts have been sunk and each of them is in ore.
