Salt Lake residents who took interest in the fatherless children of France to the extent of caring for one or more of these little ones are commencing to receive re-ceive letters from the mothers and gua-rdians of the little ones who are in most cases too small to write their American benefactors. Leon Sweet of Salt Lake City yesterday yester-day received a letter from Mrs. Widow Dey. Route Defougeres Yite, France, mother of Maurice Dey, vho is the youngster provided for by him. The widow says in part: The night we received the letter we went to bed happy and contented con-tented in our hearts, thinking not only of the material good that this sum would bring to our sad fireside, fire-side, now deserted and lonely for three long years; but thinking also of the moral encouragement inspired in-spired by your generous thought. Your little protege is at present five years old, very robust and intelligent, in-telligent, with an inquisitive mind and a bit mischievous. His father was killed October '2-4, 1914, at Bassaur leaf Annas. Daring Dar-ing his short si;f;er;'ng he must indeed in-deed have thought of those he was leaving behind him, for he was the best and tenderest of fathers, thinking only of the good and future fu-ture of the two dear little ones whom he worshiped with all bis soul. |
