Show ST. PMOPEi THIRD OUt SHOOT Calavada to Sink to Water Level; Pilot Develops Big Vein. LCXING. New, De- 29. In extending the i a eg of the tunnel of the Kirchen .Mines corpoi a lion's St. Patrick mine the : hird ore shoot to be opened up in it was r-ncounterrd during the week. The grade j of the ore so far found averages well; with that of the other two shoots and 1 makpfi a very good shipping product. For the past two days the values luie iu-creaser iu-creaser and arc even bolter than the t sutisfaj-tni y average. Stoping Is in pros-re-5s from the three shoots anil the ore is going to the We.-tern Ore Purchasing company. The Calavada Copper company has installed in-stalled an air hoist at the luOO-foot level of tlie main shaft and will im media t el y continue linking the winze on the fissure vein, which is now at the 1100-foot point. The new hoii-'t is good for over 500 foet. but It is believed that the water level will bo reached within the next 200 feet, and that is the objective point for the time being. At the water level the primary pri-mary yulphides will doubtless he found anil also secondary enrichment from the rode posit ion of the values which have been leached out of much of the ore in the oxidized zone. When trie high grade of such of the oxidized ores as were leached but little lit-tle is considered for instance, on t he 1000 level there is a body of -oxidized ore ten feet wide that will average better bet-ter than 15 per cent and that residual bodies of chalcocite. also on that level, will run 50 per cent copper, a mining man will realize that the belief that big and rich bodies of sulphide ore will be found at the water level is well based. Tlie Calavada company has temporarily , discontinued work on the new shaft . which wan started on a shoot of oxidized : ore that comes to the surface on the : Chief claim. Considerable surface work has been done in this vicinity, as a re-i re-i suit of which about 7&0 tons of ore have j been shipped which averaged better than j 10 per cent copper, with small gold and silver values. The R. B. Todd company is figuring I on a, record production of its gold and silver-gold ores in the coming year, as the new contract with tlie United States Smelting company will enable it to ship at a profit, and without much sorting, ore that hitherto has been classed as mill ore and of which there have been considerable bodies opened up. The thi-ee new finds which were recently recent-ly made In the mines of the Pilot Copper company are holding their own as development de-velopment proceeds. Until recently the Champion mino has been considered the big thing of the Pilot company, but now it looks as if' tlie Anderson mine would soon dispute the claim. The big twenty-eight-foot rein of the latter gets better as development proceeds, the values being be-ing particularly good along the hanging-wall hanging-wall side. The tunnel on the Neversweat claim of the Congress Copper company is making good progress and should before long tap the downward extension of the rich ore shoot which was glory-holed to the surface. sur-face. In the meantime development of tho big vein in the Electrolytic claim proceeds, with the face of the drift still showing 5 per cent copper ore. |
