Show REX MORRIS of Denver, who will meet Kid Irish in main event at Grand theater the-ater tomorrow night. (I IRISH ID MORRIS TO MEETTOMQRROW Local Boy Will Meet Denver Den-ver Lad at Grand Theater. Hardy K. Downing's weekly boxing show in the Grand theater tomorrow night should be on6 of the best nights' entertainments of the kind that have ever been seen in this city. Kid Irish, tbo local welterweight champion, and Rex Morris, the hard-hitting Denver boy, will meet in the six-round main event, and, as both of these boys are willing mixers and willing to take a punch in order to land one, it should be a hummer hum-mer from the crack of tho first gong until one or the other has taken tbo count. Both of these boys have met Ed 31s Palmer, the clever colored boy, recent-' 3y and both met with about the same fate, being outboxed, although they wore both dangerous from start to finish fin-ish and had the fans up on their toea expecting the k. o. wallop, i Tho card last Monday night at tho I Grand was pronounced to be the best that had ever been seen in the city, but Manager Downing says this one is going to be even better and gives as ! his reasons that both boys in the main : event have the same stvle of milling and are real battlers at heart rfnd that the rest of the card will bring together a bunch of the best audience-pleasera he has ever staged in one night. The semi-windup . between Jack i Downey and Kyle Whitney, a crack colored boy from the coast, should run tho main event a close race for tho plaudits of the fans, as Downey always gives them the best he has and in 'Whitney 'Whit-ney he is meeting a boy who is sure to make him show all his cleverness and ring generalship. Whitney has met all of the best welterweights wel-terweights and many of the best mid-dleweights mid-dleweights in the country and, although he 'is an old-timer in the game, having at one time fought for the welterweight welter-weight championship of the world against Mike Twin Sullivan, he still possesses his speed and cleverness and carries a good wallop. One of the best bouts on last Monday's Mon-day's card was between Kid Slater and. Kid Davis of Ogden. The boys stood toe to toe for the biggest part of the four rounds and exchanged wallops. Slater will meet another tough boy from Ogden in Buss Boyle, who battled Davis Da-vis to a draw a couple of weeks ago, and unless all signs fail the bout should be another give and take affair all tho wav. Swedo .Tohnson, the local youngster who has been coming to the front so fast lately, will have the first real battle bat-tle of his. career tomorrow, when he meets Kid Harrison, the tough Califor- nia bov. Johnson is just a youngster, 4 but the way he has been stopping all ' of his opponents lately stamps him as a comer and a dangerous boy for any of ' them to meet, as he is tough and has a good punch in either hand. Two pairs of youngsters will round out the bill. |
