Show Jack Dempsey and Young Hector Will Box at Murray Next Thursday Night JACK DEMPSEY. f I ' U A LL I ask of Young Hector is that he defeat Jack Dempsey at Murray next Thursday night," said Fred Winsor last night. "I know of no better way to start the boy's second sec-ond annual campaign as a professional. Hector has shown nic more class in his daily workouts at Cox's gymnasium than he did in his last bouts this summer, sum-mer, and if Jack Dempsey does not say, after the Murray boiit, that he has met the cleverest big fellow he has ever stacked up against, 1 will be sadly mistaken. Dempsey is a tough .boy, but he is going to meet a big fellow who is more clevor than he and who can also hit." Winsor firmly believes he has the boy who will stop Dempsey s sensational sensa-tional career and bases his opinion on tho Colorado man ;s showing against such men as Flynn, Barry, York, Gilbert, Gil-bert, Me M ahon and others of class. Hector finished another day of hard training yesterday. His principal box-! iug was against Jack Downey, the ! clever "white hope destroyer" of this city. Hector, while much bigger than Downey, easily held his own in the boxing and occasionally let, out just enough to indicate that he also has a punch in either mitt. Dempsey is also doing his training at the Cox gymnasium and is boxing with anybody and everybody who shows a willingness to put on the gloves with him. Con Gallagher, who is handling the mill for the Murray firemen, announces an-nounces that he is rapidly getting the promotion part of the bout in shape. Tickets were placed on sale in this city yesterday, and that there will be a capacity house at the ringside is the belief of Gallagher, who announced last night that the advance sale had already al-ready passed the $500 mark. Hardy Downing, the Salt Lake promoter pro-moter and referee, has been engaged to act as the third man in the ring. |
