Show MAXWELL BREAKING SfffiREufOS Firm Completes Arrangements Arrange-ments for Two Train-loads Train-loads of Autos. 84 CARLOADS IN ALL Makes Demonstration of How Demand for Motor Vehicle Has Grown. That the automobile industry is still onfi of the wonders of the age was demonstrated dem-onstrated by the Maxwell Motor Sales corporation, which yesterday made arrangements ar-rangements for two trninloadM of automobiles auto-mobiles to be whipped into tffe Paciiic northwest, one train via the Northern Pacific,, consisting of forty-four carloads, and the other via the Union Pacific, consisting of forty carloads. This is without doubt the largest shipment of automobiles ever made by any firm in a season or a month, and will be rushed across the continent to supply the ever-increasing ever-increasing demands of Maxwell dealers, which never could be satisfied in the ordinary manner of delivering a carload at a time. Covers Only One Month. The moat interesting fuatu re of this phipment is that those eighty-four carloads, car-loads, containing GO 4 Maxwell automobiles, automo-biles, simply covers the September specifications of Maxwell dealers in the northwest. These cars will be distributed distrib-uted in Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Montana and Utah, half a trainload going go-ing to the Utah-Idaho Motor company, Halt Lake. The railroad companies have promised to bring Tthese cars to the coast in six and one-half days. "It is hard for the public to realize what an immense factory organization is necessary to enable such a showing as this in the face of the greatest material mate-rial and freight car shortage that the country has ever experienced," said Mr. "W. J. La Casse, northwest super visor of the Maxwell 'Motor Sales corporation, corpora-tion, with headquarters at Portland, Ore. He added: It also speaks of the wonderful prosperity which is felt everywhere every-where throughout the country sec tiona of these states, as practically all of these cars go to dealers in the country towns. It may be of interest in-terest to the public to know that the Maxwell Motor Sales corporation corpora-tion has kept its money in circulation circula-tion on the coast and has paid out to railroad companies, through its dealers in the northwest, $237,731 in freight charges within the past twelves months and estimate that an additional $400,000 will be paid to transportation companies within the next twelve months. This proves conclusively that the automobile auto-mobile industry is an asset to the western states, instead of a detriment detri-ment as is generally supposed. " Gigantic Shipments. The northwest branch of the Maxwell Max-well Motor Sales corporation must deliver to dealers in Oregon, Washington Wash-ington and Idaho HJ50 cars of the 1017 model. This would mean forty train loads, or a little less than a trainload per week. Where these cars will go is an interesting study. The Northern Pacific train will start dropping carloads in Montana, Mon-tana, distributed, as follows: R. S. We have had no difficulty whatever in supplying our dealers with cars so far. We are rather proud of the distinction of being one of the only two automobile manufacturers who were able to make deliveries evtry month in the past year and expect to duplicate the feat during the corning year. Our organization has been perfected to such an extent that we are in a position "to supply the demands throughout the entire United States. We are putting out 500 cars per day. and expect to increase in-crease this output to 700 cars per day within the next sixty days. |
