A conspicuous conspic-uous feature in tho Senate chamber today was a large easel bearing upon It a series of pictures showing tho effect ef-fect of irrigation and tho Wyoming tract of irrigated land which has been the subject of controversy in connection connec-tion with the debate upon Mr. Gibson's bill for tho repeal of the land laws. The easel was placed In the chamber at tho request of Senator Warron, who had given notice of his intention to address ad-dress the Senate on the bllL Mr. Warren War-ren did not find opportunity to speak at the beginning of tho day's session, Mr. Mallory continuing his speech on the Carmack resolution looking to an inquiry Into the legality of the old age pension order of Secretary Hitchcock. When Mr. Mallory concluded a bill establishing a fish hatchery In Utah was passed. Tho land law repeal bill was then taken up and Mr. Warren proceeded with his speech. He took a position In opposition to the wholesale repeal of the land laws and said that tho demand for a chaneo had been met by tho Senate Sen-ate In Its action on the timbor and stone act. He also called attention to the fact that the President had Indorsed In-dorsed tho recommendations of the Richards commission, which wore In tho interest of modification, but not of tho repeal of tho law.
