The constructive work of the sub-way Itself and the laying of tracks probably could be completed by June, but the power-house is behind. It will take at least until the end of August to put in place the generators for supplying motive mo-tive power. Provision has been made in this power-house, which is at Fiftieth street and Eleventh avenue, for seven huge generators of power for the subway sub-way operation. At least five generators J will be required for a beginning, and as yet only two have been put In place It lakes six weeks to put together each Bet of the generating machinery, and , at this rate it would be mid August at the earliest before the machinery neccs-nry neccs-nry to give power to run any trains In the sub-way will be ready. |
