Show PROVO REPUBLICANS INDORSE ROOSEVELT Support Pledged to C. E. 'Loose ns Delegate to the National Convention Con-vention at Chicago. Special to Tho Tribune. PROVO. April 2. The Republican county' convention to select delegates to the State convention at Salt Lake City met today. County Chairman De Moray called the convention to order and announced an-nounced the temporary organization. Chairman, James Clove, Provo; sccrc-tur, sccrc-tur, Miss Sophia Packard, Sprlngvlllc. Miss Packard being absent. Miss Julia Allaman of Springvillo was chosen to the position. Chairman Clove paid a h5gh trlbuto to President Roosevelt as tho first Pros-ident Pros-ident to look out for the wellfaro of tho "WesL Referring to the caso of Senator Sen-ator Smoot, Mr. Clove said that the Republicans Re-publicans of the entire Stato were solid in "favor of his retaining his seat in the Senate. The Committee on Permanent Organization Or-ganization and Order of Business recommended by the chairman, John C. Naham, the following permanent organization: or-ganization: Chairman, George Austin, Lehi; vice-chairman, J. M. Jensen, Provo; vice-chairman, Mrs. Mack Dou-gall, Dou-gall, Sprlngvllle; secretary. Jnmcs T. Thorne, Pleasant Grove; assistant secretaries, sec-retaries, Mrs. Quet Johnson, Spanish Fork, and chaplain, II. H. Cluff. Provo; sergeant-at-arms, Harry Tipton, Pay-son. Pay-son. Indorse Roosevelt and Loose. Judge Saxey of the Committee on Platform and Resolution presented the following resolution, which was adopted: "The Republicans of Utah county, in convention assembled, do anlm allegiance al-legiance to the party of Lincoln, Gar-Held Gar-Held and McKInley, and, "Resolved, That we most heartily endorse tho administration of that fearless fear-less Eoldler, able statesman and popular popu-lar President, Theodore Roosevelt, and demand the election of delegates to the National Republican convention who are pledged to his nomination; and "Resolved. That the fifty-four delegates dele-gates chosen at tills convention be and the same are hereby instructed to work and vote at the State Republican convention for the election of C. E. Loose as delegate to the National Republican Re-publican convention to be held at Chicago Chi-cago June 21, 1&04." Several delegates objected to the part of the report pledging Utah county votes to Mr. Loope for delegate to tho National convention, and Thomas Dal-lln Dal-lln of Sprlngvlllc moved to strike out that part. Tho amendment was defeated de-feated by a vote of 128 to G'J. Wouldn't Accept Honor. Before the vote was taken on the delegates Thomas Dallln of Springville, who had been nominated as one of tho delegates; declared that no American citizen could, with honor to himself and the Republican party, be bound by tho resolutions which had been passed by the convention; that according to the press of tho State no one but a Latter-day Latter-day Saint need apply. The speaker was greeted with hisses. Mr. Dallln said that he could not remain on the delegation dele-gation to the State convention and warned the convention of the mistakes it was making in pledging its support to C. E. Loose.
