Show II Hu L.uuLiJ CENTERVILLE - A change of venue from Centerville Center-ville to Woods Cross Justice of the Peace Court has been approved in the case of Davis County Justice of the Peace John D. Stewart. THE CASE, which alleges that JP Stewart struck Thomas A. Lawrence during a campaign argument last fall, will now be heard in Woods Cross before Robert T. Matheson, Woods Cross justice jus-tice of the peace. No trial date has been set but Justice Matheson said it probably would be heard within the next month. JUDGE STEWART, who was re-elected Davis County JP, is accused of striking Mr. Lawrence in the head with his fist. Both were campaigning for the county justice of the-peace the-peace post. The change of venue was requested by Judge Stewart, who lives in Fruit Heights. He said he could not receive a fair trial in Centerville "where Mr. Lawrence resides and is known by almost everyone in the community." - THE NEW trial is expected to be decided by a jury of Woods Cross residents, grb |
