Show Val Verda By MARY LANDEN 292-5985 At the Val Verda Stake Conference, new Stake Patriarch Pa-triarch Henry E. Christiansen was sustained to serve with Joseph Rowland. Music for the conference was provided by a Stake Relief Society chorus under the baton of Julia Sharp. Inez Tanner was released as Stake Relief Society music chairman, to be succeeded by Jane Basinger. After the Sunday morning !'session a short meeting was held in the rehearsal hall for all interested to discuss this year's stake musical production. produc-tion. Tentative dates for the production were announced on the Labor Day weekend, Aug. 30, 31 and Sept. 1. Audi-. tions are scheduled for May 10 and 11 with most of the rehearsals in July and August. Carene Jordan will be the director again, and Julia Sharp will be the musical director. Since John and Velda Gilchrist have bought a mobile home and moved to Sandy from their home at 2913 South 500 West to be nearer John's work and their married children, we have new neighbors at that address. Coming from North Salt Lake are Joseph and lsabell Stringham and their two preschool children Suzette and Phillip. Joseph is employed by the LDS Church in the translation department as manager of training, lsabell enjoys music, playing the piano and violin. She has participated in local musicals and in the annual regional production of the "Messiah." We are glad to see Linda Hansen up and about again after her recent surgery. She is back to her part-time job as a nurse in the newborn baby nursery at Lakeview Hospital. While on a trip to West Yellowstone, Dell Jean Cook took flight on a snowmobile -over an eight foot ravine. Fortunately injuries were not serious. Norma Larsen's daughter Joyce has moved out of the family home to the nearby basement apartment of Ron and Karen Perkes at 2881 South 625 West. Joyce, a talented vocalist, is employed by the U of U police in the traffic control division. She acts as a meter maid and also directs traffic at busy univer-sity univer-sity events. On his mission in the Netherlands, Karsten Brooks had an appointment with the council general of the United States and his wife. He and his partner gave a family home evening presentation. Elder Brooks has been called as a zone leader and recently transferred to Groningen, Netherlands. |
