Show Ice Is Off At Flaming Gorge Spring has finally arrived at Flaming Gorge. ACCORDING TO Division of Wildlife Resources personnel, per-sonnel, there is no more ice on the lake and boats are beginning to show up in the side canyons and bays. Clair Davis, division information officer in Vernal, reports recent slow fishing but says conditions are expected ex-pected to improve rapidly as the water temperature begins to rise. THE STATE record rainbow taken a few weeks ago has not been challenged, but anglers trolling the deeper areas are hooking a few larger macks and rainbows. Davis says the majority of the activity is occurring near the surface. ...... A u The Gorge is open to year-round fishing, 24 hours a day However, tributaries such as Cart Creek, Carter Creek and Sheep Creek are closed until July 1-to permit spawning activity. The mouths of these streams will be buoyed and posted. In addition, the Green River below Flaming Gorge Dam will be closed until the opening of the general fishing season on June 2.
