BLODGETT BOUNTIFUL - Nearly five months of intensive investigation inves-tigation by Bountiful police officers resulted in the arrest Tuesday night of two juvenile boys, suspects in an armed robbery last December. THE TWO juvenile-aged boys, whose names were withheld because of their age, were charged with aggravated aggravat-ed robbery and are being held at the MOWEDA Detention Center in Roy. The youths were stopped by Bountiful police officers on 500 South just west of Main Street about 6: 15 p.m. Tuesday Tues-day (last night). One of the boy's mother was in the car with the suspects. DETECTIVE Blaine Palmer, who directed the arrest, said he received information in-formation earlier in the day that the boys were believed involved in the robbery last December of the Round Up Grocery, 435 South 500 West. Three young men, described as juvenile-age, were reportedly involved in the armed robbery in which about $700 in cash and checks were taken, according to Detective De-tective Palmer. HE SAID the third juvenile was arrested last February and is being held at MOWEDA awaiting trial. That suspect, too, said Detective Detec-tive Palmer was charged with aggravated robbery. Five Bountiful police officers, of-ficers, two detectives and three patrolmen, participated in Tuesday's arrest. DETECTIVE Palmer said that when he heard the boys might be trying to leave the area, warrants for their arrest were obtained and officers of-ficers went to the boys' homes. About an hour later, after not finding the youths at home, the suspect car was spotted westbound on 500 South. AS THE suspect car was stopped, officers converged with drawn weapons and the youths were ordered one by one from their vehicle. Detective Palmer said a felony warrant has also been issued for a man believed to be in California who is also a suspect in the robbery. HE SAID the three youths are "residents of the Bountiful Boun-tiful area" aged 16 and 17. |
