Show looms Hold GampopsG f fin AoiGlopG Island The 1979 Spring Camporee at Antelope Island was held April 20-21 for all scouts in the Antelope Island District including Blazer scout patrols. pa-trols. THE CAMP was divided into in-to three areas: red, white and blue. The blue area included Bountiful, Bofintiful Heights, Bountiful West, Bountiful North, CenteVville, Centerville Center-ville South, and Farmington Stakes; Bountiful Community Church and Cross of Christ Lutheran Church. White area included Orchard, Val Verda, Woods Cross, Bountiful Central, Bountiful East and Bountiful South Stakes. THE RED area included Cannon, Pioneer, Temple View, Riverside, Rose Park, Rose Park North and Salt Lake Stakes. The island was dotted with boy scouts as Treasure Moun- tain District and Old Mill District also held camporees on the island. However, according ac-cording to one scout master, the facilities are really great lor the boys a"hd the scouts appreciate the state park service ser-vice for making this area available. THERE WAS competition in first aid, string burning, camping layout, silent scout signals and distress signals, and travoice race. Each area competed within its area and the awards were certificates good for scouting equipment. there were boy scouts in the mud in the marshes and scouts climbing hills, as well as competing in the events. . EACH STAKE had its own1 campfire and program Friday evening, and the Rose( Park Stake had a special treat ; J with some Mountain Men whoJ put up their teepee and,j provided the program. Theyj showed the boys mountain' men hunting equipment and told them about the mountain man program. They also told, ; stories of the Wasatch Front' -and about hunting for beaver, pelts. ' Camp sites were inspected, j and each troop was expected,.; to leave its site cleaner than,.,; they found it. vfw ,j |
