Show Viewmont Schedules Varsity Sports Awards By DAVE WIGHAM Viewmont High Varsity Club will hold their annual Awards Banquet on Wednesday, Wednes-day, May 9. The public is invited in-vited to attend this awards program which will be held in the school auditorium at 8 p.m. FOR THE second year in a row the club will award its Exemplary Athlete Award. This award was created last year to come up with a reward for those athletes who were model students both on and off the athletic field. THERE ARE between 300 and 400 students who participate par-ticipate each year in the athletic programs of the school. These athletes are the leaders of the school for the most part and the Varsity Club wanted to come up with an award for those who best exemplified good sportsmanship sports-manship on the field and good citizenship in the classroom. This award is voted on by the faculty of the school. In voting the faculty takes into consideration four aspects: 1. Citizenship in the classroom and halls; 2. Positive influence and leadership throughout the year; 1 Involvement In-volvement in school programs and functions; and 4. Athletic ability. THE FACULTY members vote for one boy and one girl for the year to receive this award. The award itself is a laree plaque that has the names of the winners which hangs in the halls of the school The plaque also explains the na ture of the award and the criteria for winning THE PUBLIC is invited to the banquet to see all the sports programs honor their players and to see just who the administration and faculty, along with the"? coaches, feel gave that something extra to the school |
