Show E. 0. Lee Listed As Basin's First Same Warden By Shirley Chatwin E. C. Lee, of Uintah County was probably Uintah Basin's first game warden, according to the Fish and Game commission. This appointment was made after af-ter Utah became a state. In 1897 an organization of 52 members met and proposed additional laws. Among these was that a reward be paid any person producing pro-ducing evidence leading to the conviction of a violation of any of their laws. Forty-six deputy wards were appointed at this time to heln enforce the laws. E. C. Lee was one of these men appointed to work without pay. In 1903, Charles B. Atwood of Uintah county was the war' den for. Uintah and Duchesne counties. In 1909 M. B. pope received his appointment as a district warden. The first licenses sold were in 1905, when the legislature agreed to a non-resident license which sold for $25.00. A $1.00 residence for males over 14 years of age was issued in 1907 |
