Show Ballard Mrs. Ellen Bracken Ward Carnival Increases Fund Under the direction of the Sunday School officers and teachers a very successful party was held in the Ballard chapel, Thursday evening, Jan. 15. A country store was arranged in one corner, where all manner of produce was sold. In another corner was a fish pond. On the stage chili, crackers, sandwiches, salad, cake, ice cream and soda water were sold. A program was given and dancing enjoyed. The proceeds so far is counted count-ed as about $250.00 to be used in buying song books and other things for use in the ward. Mrs. Elsie Secrest left one day last week for her home in Moab to be with her daughter and new grandchild. She plans to return. Orlan Cook, accompanied by his brother, Wayne, spent last Sunday afternoon visiting with relatives in Bluebell. This was Orlan's first visit there since his return from the mission field. Mrs. Frieda Davis, Home Demonstration Agent, of Uintah county, will conduct sewing lessons les-sons in Ballard, commencing in February. All ladies are urged to attend. R. L. Neilson, of Roosevelt, was in attendance at Sunday School, Sunday morning. Max Todd, Glen Woma-k and Lynn Bracken were in from the B.Y.U. at Provo to attend the basketball game on Friday evening. eve-ning. Mr. and Mrs. Elbert Smith, of Whiterocks, and Mrs. Don Simmons Sim-mons and small son, of Tridell, were visitors at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Wilmar Parrish, Saturday afternoon. Word has been received by Mr. and Mrs. Squire Mangum that their son, Norman, who joined the Navy in January is at the Navy Department in San Diego. Mrs. W. O. Robinson, of Roosevelt Roos-evelt and Mrs. Wilson Gutzman of Ft. Duchesne, acted as substitute sub-stitute teachers in place of Mrs Rhoda Rudy and Mrs. Mary Burgess a few davs lact Dean Frandson and Seth Asay attended church at Bennett on Sunday. Word has been received by Mrs. Bill Brisbin and E. W. Turner that their mother, Mrs Rhoda Turner, who had a stroke at Christmas time, was able to be removed to her son's home at Moab from the hospital. Mrs Turner had gone to Moab to spend the winter. Two small quilts weTe quilted at Relief Society on Tuesday. Mrs. Norma Johnson and Mrs Nita White served a delicious lunch to the splendid group of workers present. Mrs. Earl Gardner entertained entertain-ed a group of twenty-five youngsters young-sters in honor of her son Johnny's John-ny's fifth birthday, Sunday afternoon, af-ternoon, Jan. 11. Games were clayed and a delicious lunch served. Mrs. Ada Pickup and Mrs. Jesse Pickup, of Randlett, were visitors at the E. C. Coston home one evening last week. They had also been visiting with Mrs. Julia Kettle. |
