Show Viced inspector Gives Report At Annual Meeting A summary of the spraying of noxious weeds in Duchesne county during 1952 was given by A. Hale Holgate, agriculaural inspector, at the annual meeting of the Duchesne County Noxious Weed Control committee. In his summary, he included a report on the use of funds budgeted for noxious weed control for the past year, as follows: During: 1952, Duchesne county purchased the following weed chemicals: 1,600 lbs. of Atlacide 690 gals, of 2-4-D, 40 gals, of brush killer. 660 gals, of 2-4-D had been carried over from the 1951 chemical supply. It is estimated es-timated that approximately 300 gals, of 2-4-D is on hand, making mak-ing the total of 1,050 gals, used this year, or. approximately 2,000 sprayed. In addition to the above figures, fig-ures, John Zupko reported that he used the following amount of chemicals this past year in his weed spraying operations: 343 gals 2-4-D, 40 gals, brush killer, 5,000 lbs. of Polybor-chlorate. Mr. Zupko was the only custom spray operator devoting full-time full-time to this-work. Considerable spraying in the county was also done by ' privately -owned spray outfits mounted on farm tractors. trac-tors. The? $10,000.00 budget set up for the control of noxious weeds in Duchesne county during 1952 was used as follows: Supervisor and spray operator, oper-ator, $1,866.85, purchase of new sprayer and major repairs on truck, $2,163.45; purchase of chemicals, $3,398.37; gas, oil and repairs for sprayer and miscellaneous miscel-laneous supplies, $456.44; paid to John Zupko for spraying work and chemicals, $1,309.55; rental on experimental weed farm, $100.00. Total expenditures expendi-tures for the operation of the noxious weed control program for 1952 is listed at $9,294.66. Income from the sale of chemicals, chem-icals, custom spray work, tax amounted to $2,033.53. In addi-redemptions, addi-redemptions, and other sources tion. over $500.00 has been received re-ceived from the Farnsworth Canal Ca-nal Co. for spray work done, and approximately $50.00 is outstanding out-standing and yet to be collected for small spray jobs. Additional Income is expected from tax redemptions, re-demptions, which should reduce the net cost of the noxious weed control to the county for 1952 to about $6,500.00, according to the compiled figures and estimates esti-mates of the financial report of the committee. |
