Show fffw THE By Carl Holley Scouters from the Southeastern Southeast-ern and Uintah Basin sections of the Utah National Parks Council had a big time last weekend at the Carbon College. Close to one hundred scouters from the two areas listened to the finest methods of getting more scouting to more boys in 1953. Mingled with the courses were periods of skits and songs to stimulate brotherhood and fellowship. W. W. Clyde, president of the Council, was in attendance as well as Dr. J. G. Jones, vice president; H. Eugene Hughes, Council commissioner and members mem-bers of the Council operating committees. Grant Mace, one time field executive ex-ecutive of the Uintah Basin, should be commended on the way in which he promoted this event. Dr. Aaron E. Jones, president pres-ident of the Carbon College, should also receive a bouquet for the hospitality shown by him and members of his staff in extending ex-tending the facilities of the institution. in-stitution. Taveapont. den mother from Whiterocks, who received a training certificate in the field of Cub leadership; Al White, district commissioner from Duchesne, Du-chesne, who received a certificate certifi-cate in the Commissioner Basic course; Elvin Barker, district chairman and Earl Jordan, chairman of camping and activities ac-tivities committee, both of Duchesne Du-chesne and both received training train-ing certificates in district administration. ad-ministration. The University of Scouting will become an annual event and it is expected that future courses along with this one will do much to stimulate the growth and popularity of the scouting movement. Through trained leadership as acquired in gatherings gath-erings of this type, scouting will become a "High Quality" program reaching into the lives of every young boy in the nation!" |
