Show I 8 Si i mm Yesterday morning marked the opening of the two weeks' artillery target practice for the soldier boys at Camp Kearny, of which B battery is a prominent unit. The twenty -four 3-inch guns were to be drawn to the target range, which fronts a range of hills about five miles from the camp, and the artillery men are 10 be put through a course or polishing off in this branch of warfare as a climax to their intensive training at Camp Kearny. Scores of targets have been constructed in the foothills and there will be plenty of difficult as well as comparatlvcy easy 'marks to bombard. bom-bard. The reorganization of T5 battery to the motdrized type of artillery has now been completed. A number of B battery men have applied for the officers' offi-cers' training camp, which will be held in the cantonment and will commence com-mence January 5. Included in the men applying are Sergeant Elmer G. Rusted, Corporal Earl S. Pingree. I Corporal Rmfchart L.. Gideon, all ug-den ug-den men. The following promotions were announced an-nounced yesterday: Fred D. I-Iood was appointed as chief mechanic, Fred Aanorud was promoted to mechanic, me-chanic, while Albert E. Allard was assigned as-signed as cook. 1 The following men were promoted to waggoners or chauffeurs chauf-feurs to take charge of the motor tractors which haul the heavy guns: Ellis E. Barlow, George Donaldson, Paul B. Dubois, Oscar W. Kceter, I Dewey M. Lashus, Alexander Carlson, Frank IT. Yerger, Levi P. -' M unlock. Ernest A. Wheat, Newton J. Dills, David W. Firth, Joseph D. Dean. The following B battery m'en were, promoted to become privates of the first class: Eugene E. Dilley, Alfred Hindmarsh, Edward A. Rhodes, Sylan A. Ririe, Warren L. Taylor, Lee G. Treseder, Louis T. Willianis, Charles B. West, Cyrus W. White and Alma E. I Wright. Interest In the officers' training camp, which will be held in the cantonment can-tonment beginning January 5, Is high and many of the Utah men have made application to enter. These applications applica-tions have been carefully assorted and the men chosen to represent the regi: ment. Applications Approved.
