Show ill Ml WITH THE AMERICAN ARMY IN FRANCE, Dec. 10. (y. tho Associated Asso-ciated Press.) Brigade and regimental regi-mental officers are well pleased at the first demonstration given by the troops of a certain contingent in working work-ing out a theoretical attack today behind be-hind a barrage of shell fire and gas. A regiment from the new unit first marched up the side of a hill and occupied oc-cupied its own trenches while American Ameri-can gunners, directed by airplanes laid a heavy barrage of 75's along a row of trenches just over tho top of the hill which had been designated as the first enemy objective. While the barrage of shells and gas was still playing on this objective, the men went over the top and advanced to the attack, the barrage at the same time moving forward to the' second enemy objective. When the troops had occupied the first enemy lino and the supports wore moving up they advanced again and occupied tho second objective. Airplanes in the meantime signalled their prograss and called a halt to the barrage. |
