Show S I ARTICLES STOLEN ARE RECOVERED FROM YOUNG BOYS All of the articles stolen from the J. G. Read & Bros, harness store recently re-cently were recovered last night by Sheriff H. C. Peterson when he rounded up Bill Van Heflen, age 16, and George Downs, age 17. These youths had purchased the articles, according ac-cording to their story, from a delivery -man named Pipp, who worked for Reads, and had paid a small sum for them. Downs had a pair of gloves and a pair of spurs and Van Heflen is said to have had a pair of chaps, pair of snurs, and a pair of leather cuffs. The robbery of the Read Bros.' store was committed by Pipp, it is thought, and the articles were stolen, a few at a lime, during several weeks while he was employed there. Pipp resigned his position suddenly two weeks ago, left Ogden and joined the army. Downs claims he offered the spurs and gloves to him and says he paid him ?3 down on them and was to pay the balance in a few days after Pipp had joined the army and came back to Ogden on a furlough. The articles recovered from Downs and Van Heflen arc all that were taken from the harness store, according accord-ing to Read Bros., or at least all of which they have any record. oo |
