Show TRE MESSIAH TO BE SUNG NEW YEAR'S DAY IN III "The Messiah," Handel's great oratorio, will be sung again this year by the Messiah chorus of the Salt Lake Oratorio society at the Salt Lake tabernacle on the afternoon of New Year's day. Squire Coop, who has made this renowned work well known in Utah, will again be the conductor. The work will be rendered by a chorus of 300 voices, the elite of the city's singers. An orchestra of fifty players and imported soloists will be engaged to participate. Last New Year's day an audience of 7000 persons assembled to hear the music. It is expected that this year the great building will not be adequate ade-quate to hold all those who will desire to attend, as the message of the oratorio ora-torio is in harmony with the spirit of the times and the attitude of the American people to the war. "Peace on' earth, good will toward men." For tho special enjoyment of Ogden musicians, Squire Coop will conduct three study rehearsals of the music in Ogden, beginning Friday evening of this week, from 7:30 to 8:30 o'clock, at tho Ogden Conservatory of Music. oo |
