Show NO CHANGE IN SIGHT INC010CT0FTHE CITY'S AFFAIRS . The situation Is status quo That is the technical descriptive of tho condition of the controversy between be-tween Mayor-elect T. S. Browning and Commissioners Chris Flygare and M. L. Jones. It means there has been no developments develop-ments since the conference two weeks ago when the two commissioners assigned as-signed themselves certain departments depart-ments of the city governments and left the other departments, which did not include public safety, to the new maypr. Tho disturbance stands today precisely as it stood at that time. "I have no comment to make," said Commissioner Flygare. "Additional talk merely would tend to make matters mat-ters worse. Besides there is no chango in the situation." "I know of no change now and so far as I am informed there is none in prospect." said Commissioner Jones recently. "I think everything equitably equitab-ly apportioned and see no occasion for a lack of harmony If each member submits sub-mits to the Judgment of the majority. There will be no special elections because be-cause tho law does not provide for such an election." The Mayor-elect slated-this morning that he had not conferred with his associates as-sociates since the original meeting and knew of no developments. "So far as I know the situation re-mnins re-mnins unchanged," said Mayor-elect Browning. "I have had no further conference con-ference with the commissioners and no date engagements have been set to further discuss the apportionment of the departments. I am not convinced that I am receiving the courtesy due me as chairman or mayor of the board. I do not know at this time just what steps will .be required to secure for me the departments to which the voters vot-ers understood they wore electing me when they gave me a decisive major-I major-I Ity for mayor. I do know, however, that I am anxious to be fair and agreeable agree-able and feel certain that the controversy contro-versy will adjust itself." nn |
