Show Lady T-birds close conference play against Colorado Women's College i After five games -n the road, Southern Utah State s Women's Basketball squad returns home Saturday. Colorado Women's College is the opponent for the contest scheduled at 7:30 p.m. in the SUSC Physical Education Building. The game will close out the Intermountain Conference portion of the T-Bird schedule. CWC comes into the contest 1-5 connect on only nine of 31 shots from the field and 19 of 66 for the game. SUSC will close out its home season March 5 against a strong University of Nevada, Las Vegas team. The lady T-Birds finish the year March 6 at Snow College in Ephraim. on the season. Its only win came against Western State. Leading players for CWC are two juniors, Patty Jefferies and Dana Marie Schmidt. SUSC split last week, knocking . off Weber State 58-35 and dropping a 53-46 decision to Idaho State. Losing to ISU just about put the wrapper on the lady T-Birds' chances for a playoff spot or the ' IMC crown. "We had a mental letdown," said "Bird" Coach Joe Hillock. Both of the T-Bird's leading scorers got into foul trouble and had to go to the bench. Cheryl Eyraud picked up four fouls and only 13 points, way below her team leading average of 23 points. Laura Bailey led the scoring with 16 but fouled out. "Without those two on the court the younger players didn't have a leader out there," added Hillock. Eyraud and Bailey have been the standouts all season for SUSC. "We played better than the final score indicates," states Hillock. SUSC shot only one free throw in the second half and could |
