The concert will begin at 8 p. m. The special family event will be held to raise funds for an east coast tour the 1 band will make in Mid-March. I SUSC Symphony Band Concert Slated Cedar City residents are cordially invited to attend at-tend a Southern Utah State College Symphony Band performance March 1 at Cedar High School. Proceeds from the 8 p.m. concert will go towards a tour of the east coast that the band will take in mid-March. "We are very pleased to be representing Utah and especially southern Utah in two special bicen-tennially-oriented programs," Steven W. Allen, band director, said. .The.SUSC group will perform at the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C. on March 10 and at the Music Educators National Convention in Atlantic City, New Jersey, March 11. Allen notes that musical selections performed at CHS will be among those to be performed on the east coast. "The concert is planned to lift and elevate and to be enjoyed by the entire family," Allen said. "It will give young people a chance to see what other young people, who are striving for musical excellence, are able to achieve." Rates for the performance are $5 per family, $2.50 for adults and 75 cents for students. Dr. Allen stated that "this year we have many outstanding personnell in the band, from all over the nation, even one from Japan, but the majority of them come from the surrounding communities Some of the band members, but, by no means all include Deborah Ashdown, Karen Bradshaw, Terie Bushhead, Kevin Carter, Rett Christensen, Marcia L. . ; , Hawks, Jeff Jolley, Khris Orton, Kae Porter, Carol Spencer, Marilyn Stucki, Lynn Swindlehearst, Scott Warner, Steve Knell, all of Cedar City. Carolee Anderson is from Alton and Jeri Jerome is from Parowan. Participating from Paragonah is Alan Robinson. Others include Vickie Stainbrook from Moab; Anona Spencer from Beaver; Dave Piatt from Fillmore; Dane Robinson from Delta; Jon Sedqwick from Hurricane; and Roger Young from Springdale. "This local talent is irreplaceable to us this year," Dr. Allen commented. DOOR TO DOOR CANVAS . Members of the SUSC Symphony Band will, make a door to door canvas of the community Saturday, Feb. 29 to sell tickets for Monday's concert. Tickets are $5.00 per family or $2.50 for adults. Band members will begin the drive at 9 a.m. and continue throughout the day until 5 p.m. They solicit the support of residents and encourage them to attend the concert Monday evening.
