Show LDS Seminaries in Cedar City for 50 Years The school year 1975-76 marks the 50th anniversary of the LDS Seminary in Cedar. The Seminary was founded in 1925 when William H. Palmer was Stake President. Stake members themselves donated the entire cost of the building -about $15,260 with no help from the Church at large. All of the people in the wards backed the project enthusiastically, according ac-cording to early Seminary histories. In 1926, Andrew M. Anderson, the new principal, began holding classes in the building. Two teachers served students from Cedar, Enoch, Parowan, Paragonah, New Harmony, and Kanarraville. Today there are three seminaries, eight teachers serving 814 students taking a class at the Cedar South Seminary alone. Enrollment has grown steadily since 1926. To celebrate the Anniversary, the Seminary Council is planning an open house in the near future. |
