"Using class "C" water will not only greatly save us money but will be a conservatory measure enabling us to use treated water rather than culinary water for irrigation i purposes," Kunz said. Current construction on the corner of 800 West Center Street marks the beginning of final phases of development to incorporate in-corporate the area from 800 to 1150 West as a complex of playing fields for Southern Utah State College. The project also includes installment in-stallment of sprinkling systems which will enable about two-thirds two-thirds of the SUSC campus to be irrigated using treated water from the Cedar City sewage processing plant. When complete, the area will contain a regulation baseball field complete with dugouts and . backstop, two softball fields and a regulation football practice field. The entire area, including the existing Thunderbird Stadium, will be serviced by a centrally located 172-car parking lot. Improvement of the peripheral road west of the stadium is also scheduled as part of the development project, Merrill B. Kunz, physical plant operator, notes. ' "Construction will be completed com-pleted by this summer," Kunz said, "and the SUSC baseball team should be using the regulation diamond for RMAC competition a year from this spring." Contractor for the project is Millcreek Gardens, Salt Lake City. Architects are Maas and Grassli, Ogden. Final grading is being done on the field now; rough grading was done earlier by area contractors, much of it on a donation basis. Development plans include provisions for sbdding, sidewalks, curb and gutter, and sprinkling systems. Kunz notes that an eight-inch water feeder line will be installed in the playing field area and simultaneously run' up to the current practice football field in the middle campus area.
