Show Rams defeat N. Sevier 5-4 PAROWAN - The Parowan Rams baseball team coached by Jerry Dyer now have a 2 and 0 record in early season play. With a fine pitching performance by Danny Stones and some outstanding hitting the Parowan Rams upset North Sevier in region 8 baseball by a score of 5 to 4. Dan Stones went all 7 innings and scattered 8 hits in gaining the win. He was backed by some out standing hitting by Mike Thornton, Mike Evans, Daryl Jones, Pat Benson and Brad Fife. Fife's sixth inning homerun put the game into a 4-4 tie going into the 7th inning. In the bottom of the 7th, Pat Beason led off the inning with a double and Daryl Jones bunted safely to first. On the next play Benson was forced out at 3rd and Jones moved to second setting up the game winning hit by pitch-hitter Dave Snow, scoring Jones from second. Nelson was the losing pitcher from N. Sevier. The Rams were scheduled to play Kanab high school and the Cowboys called to forfeit the game giving the Rams their second win. A game with Gunnison was played Tuesday . Score will be in next week's paper. |
