The Southern Utah State baseball team returns home this Friday and Saturday to play host to the Lumberjacks Lum-berjacks of Northern Arizona. With revenge in their eyes, the T-Birds tangle with the Lumberjacks at 1 p.m. in a nine inning contest, Friday. On Saturday, the two teams get together at noon for a double-header. Northern Arizona owns two victories over the Thunderbirds, 10-5 and 7-3. The T-Birds played in Flagstaff on their way to Phoenix. Despite losing three of five games to Grand Canyon, the T-Birds showed they can play with the best. The Antelopes were ranked number 10 in the NAIA and had a record of 24- vz. SUSC came away with 4-2 and 14-4 victories while losing 7-2, 6-3 and 10-7. The T-Birds now stand with a 8-11-1 record against some pretty tough competition. In the victories righthanders right-handers Garn Jorgensen and Jed Murray pitched brilliantly. Jorgensen held GCC to just seven hits with Murray scattering nine hits and striking out seven. The T-Birds pounded out 11 hits in the 4-2 win and smacked out 17 in the 14-4 triumph. The hitting stars for the seven-game road trip were leftfielder Tony Pappas (7-15, (7-15, one homerun, five runs batted in), rightfielder Greg Wayman (7-15, one homerun, seven RBI's), shortstop Danny Nuttall (10-29), (10-29), three RBI's, and second baseman Ivan Otero (9-28, one RBI).
