Show Parowan Progress Committee formed I'AROWAN - The first meeting of the I'arowan Community Progress Committee, was held April 14 at the I'arowan Library. Mayor Jim Robinson, Councilwoman Frankie Lou Bentley, and Councilman Frank Adams presided. Leaders from various agencies and organizations, and interested citizens also attended. Mayor Robinson stated from this meeting "a I'arowan Co-ordinating Committee will be formed." The purpose of this committee com-mittee will be to help a growing community to work in a cohesive way by having diverse group and agencies join hands in a common goal, he said. Mayor Robinson read briefly from the Utah Community Progress Manual. He stated this would be the guideline in forming this committee. One of the first steps in implementing im-plementing this program will be to reach every citizen in Parowan with a concise questionaire evaluating services, officals, groups and organizations now serving the area. The Co-ordinating Committee, Com-mittee, will also help solve ' some of the over-lapping of 1 the solutions for the existing 1 problems and future ones. A general chairman and four U-I- committee members will be appointed. Mrs. Bentley will serve as a liason person between all the committees and the Parowan City Council. This committee will cdnduct an inventory of separete areas as to the effectiveness of existing programs and formulate goals, their priorities, and more comprehensive ways to reach them. Everyone was asked to submit names of those in the community who they felt would be best able to achieve these desired results. The Mayor stressed they really want to know how the community feels about their fitv and programs they would like to see improved, changed, or implemented. |
