Show Schoppman files for re-election 1963, when he began as a patrolman for the Cedar City Police Department. He is a graduate of the Utah Police Academy. "I feel the most important things in law enforcement is public relations, knowing the area and the people, and having a good rapport with young and old, and treating people as you would like to be treated," Schoppman said. Schoppman was first elected to the county sheriff's post in 1966 and has since attended school and has training in many phases of law enforcemnt, including being a graduate of the Backster School of Lie Detection. The best sheriff's department in the state is right here in Iron County, Schoppman states. "I have a small department," he said, "but one of the best. I enjoy being the sheriff and feel it is an honor. I like working for the people of Iron County and appreciate all the support that people give me. I will do all I can to keep Iron County a safe place to live and raise a family." Married to the former Beverly Olds, Schoppman is the father of five children.
