Show Cooperative masters program reviewed Accreditation of Teacher Education and degrees will be granted by Utah State University. "The elementary education courses taught at SUSC may be applied toward any Master of Education Degree in A Cooperative Masters Program in Elementary and Secondary Education will begin this summer at Southern Utah State College. The program has been planned especially for the in-service in-service teacher and is cooperatively sponsored by SUSC and Utah State University Elementary Education. Special emphasis for- the first year in secondary education will be in social studies with other academic areas featured over the next four years," Miller said. The bulk of the education classes will be taught in Old Main, SUSC's first building which has recently undergone un-dergone measures of adaptive preservation. "We have preserved the historic integrity of the building and can now provide students with very current, very vital facilities in teacher education," Miller said. Classwork for both elementary and secondary programs will begin in June. "The program was established to serve the needs of teachers in the southern Utah area, enabling them to complete requirements for an advanced ad-vanced degree without moving to a metropolitan area to do so," James M. Miller, Dean of the SUSC School of Education, said. "Because the graduate program has been planned for the in-service teacher, the majority of classwork can be completed during the summer months," Dr. Miller said. The program does not involve a written thesis. Courses will be taught by selected SUSC and USU instructors and by qualified educators from other agencies.
