Show BPW Members attend Dinner-Meet Thirty nine members and guests of the Cedar City Business & Professional Women;s Club gathered for its regular dinner meeting at the Town & Country Restaurant at 7 o'clock Wednesday evening April 12. President Elizabeth Dewsnup presided in a gay atmosphere of Spring flowers and tiny, individual umbrella favors. The meeting opened with Club Collect by Clara Knell. President Dewsnup noted the passing of one of our charter members and past State President, Lillian Lunt, to whom a tribute was given at the recent District Meeting in St. George. Introduced were Ella VanGroningen, District Director, Ada Carpenter, vice Director, and Karla Hulet, secretary-treasurer of the Fifth District, who were recently elected to these positions at the District Conference. Our "Woman of the Year", Ada Carpenter, was presented and honored by Lydia Harter. Karen Bentley, our "Career Girl" was entered in competition in the fifth District and chosen runner-up runner-up for the State Contest. Neola Brown called attention at-tention to the Spring of the year and time to place the emphasis on membership. Every woman who works for a living is eligible to join and we invite them to attend our meetings on the second Wednesday of each month at seven o'clock at the Town & Country Restaurant. It was decided to join with the members of the League of Women Voters and donate to the Poice Department for a program on "Rape Crisis". Blanche LeBaron, chairman of the Nominating Committee presented the ticket and the following officers for 1978-79 were elected: Berenice Liebhardt, president, Cahrlotte Boyer, vice president, Bobbie Langford, recording secretary, Doris Williamson, corresponding secretary and Marena Palmer, treasurer. The program was in charge of the Committee on Individual Development. Pauline Nelson, chairman, presented Mrs. Sage Piatt who discussed Parliamentary Procedure-Do's Procedure-Do's and Don'ts or members mem-bers and chairmen. Individual In-dividual members presented a skit on Parliamentary Procedure. Edna Sargent was in charge of the drawing for the quilt which she had made to raise funds for our Scholarship to some worthy Cedar High School Student. Erma Matheson was the holder of the lucky ticket. President Dewsnup urged everyone to make plans to attend our State Convention June 9 - 10th in Salt Lake City. |
