Show SUSC Graduate gains Title Philip Lee, a June 1 graduate of Southern Utah State College, has been named Mr. Future Business Teacher in national Phi Beta Lambda competition held in conjunction with the 28th annual FBLA-PBL National Leadership Conference July 5-8 in New Orleans. Lee was named Utah's Mr. Future Business Teacher in state-wide competition held spring quarter. To earn the national title, he competed against 35 other state winners win-ners who were among the 1,300 college and university students attending the national confab in Louisiana. "Following a written examination which covered all aspects of business education, business teaching methods and PBL history, the contestants were interviewed in-terviewed by a panel of PBL judges," Doris Williamson, Chi Alpha Chapter advisor, said. "A group of 12 finalists were selected following the preliminary interview. They were interviewed again, then the winner selected." As the national winner, Lee received a cash prize of $500 and an engraved plaque. "It is indeed an honor for a SUSC student to win this coveted award," Williamson 'said. '('We believe it is an indication of the strength of SUSC business programs and of the quality of students attending Southern Utah State." Four other members of SUSC's Chi Alpha Chapter attended the conference-Utah conference-Utah PBL President Gary Williams, Price; former state president Betty Ann Bender, Las Vegas; 1978-79 Chi Alpha secretary Joan Christensen, Richfield; and 1979-80 Chi Alpha President Alan Wood, of Cedar City. SUSC received additional recognition for having the second largest PBL chapter in the Western PBL division which includes Philip Lee organizations, in Alaska, California, Oregon, Washington, Arizona, Nevada, Hawaii, Montana and Utah. Stevens Henager College, Ogden, was honored for having the largest PRT. |
