Show New Army Recruiting Officer for Cedar City & i Sergeant First Class Lyle B. Emmett, of Lovell, Wyo. has been assigned duty as Commander of the US Army Recuriting Station in Cedar City, Captain Howard Wright, Commander of the Salt Lake City Area of the Salt Lake City District Recruiting Command announced an-nounced today. "My great grandparents were pioneers who helped settle southern Utah, and I feel right at home," said Sergeant Emmett. As Commander of the Cedar City station, Sergeant Emmett will be responsible for recruiting in Cedar City as well as cities in the entire southern Utah area. Sergeant Emmett has served a total of six years in the US Army Recruiting Command. He was station commander in Bountiful, TTtah frnm Wnvpmhor 107 SGT. I YI F B. EMMETT commissioned Officer Academy at Bad Tolz, Germany. He was selected as "Soldier of the year" in the First Armored Division in 1973. He was named "Recruiter of the year" in the Salt Lake City' District Recruiting Command in 1975, and "Station Commander Com-mander of the year" in the Phoenix District Recruiting Command in 1978. He has earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Columbia College. Sergeant Emmett is an Elder in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He belongs to the Parowan 2nd Ward. He and his wife, Marilyn, are the parents of four children. until October 1976. He was also station commander in Casa Grande, Arizona, and a Guidance Counselor with the Phoenix District Recruiting Command. Sergeant Emmett spent four years in the Army National Guard prior to joining the active Army in 1965. He has served two tours of duty in Viet Nam and two in Europe. He has been awarded the Purple Heart, Army Commendation Medal with two Oak Leaf Clusters, Meritorious Service Medal, and the Bronze Star. Sergeant Emmett was named Distinguished Graduate of the Non- |
