Show Frank Petty Heads SUSC Council govern me aoumern uian aiaie College Foundation. The foundation will function to raise private donations for SUSC. By creating the foundation, the institution in-stitution will add flexibility to the manner in which donations to the college can be spent, according to college officials. A summer school enrollment report indicated that there are 419 students on campus, 63 less than last year. Sterling Church, dean of students, indicated the probable causes for the decrease would include the gas shortage scare and the elimination of the recertification requirement for Utah's public school teachers this year. Church did indicate that he expected an upswing in summer school enrollment next year. In other bvusiness, the council: --Approved a one-year leave-of-absence without pay for Bruce Osborne, former athletic director and chairman of the department of health and physical education. Dr. Osborne has accepted a position at Western New Mexico University. -Heard a report from council member James Hoyle on the success of the SUSC basketball team which completed a five-game sweep of competition in Costa Rica on an international in-ternational tour. --Adopted an annual schedule of council meetings. The schedule eliminates the August meeting this year. -Heard a report in which the SUSC administration indicated its intention not to raise board and room rates. --Reviewed the State Board of Regents policy regarding residences for Utah college presidents. -Were informed that the State Board of Regents will meet on the SUSC campus July 30 and 31. FRANK PETTY Frank Petty, Cedar City postmaster, post-master, has been elected chairman of the Southern Utah State College Institutional In-stitutional Council. Petty was selected for the position at the council's July meeting held on campus. Vice chairman of the group will be James Hoyle, Cedar City businessman. Both will serve two-year terms. Petty replaces Kumen Gardner, a Cedar City livestock rancher who had served on the council for 16 years. Ward Robb, SUSC's registrar, will continue to serve as secretary to the council.
