Show Fire Danger High on Kaibab On July 2, 1979, the Forest Supervisor of the Kaibab National Forest issued a proclamation prohibiting campfires and smoking on the Kaibab National Forest, except in designated areas. The FIRE DANGER has progressed to a point where a Closure will be considered necessary if there is no relief from rain within the next week. If the Forest is closed, all fuelwood permits will be suspended and industrial operations will be shut down or restricted according to the type of operation. Access by the public will be limited to those who have a valid need to enter the Forest and who are issued an entry permit. Courtesy check stations are being manned by the Forest Service on major entry points of the Forest. These are to inform the public of the fire danger and the restrictions that are currently in effect. |
