Show Exams Given for Postal Clerks PAPOWAN - Postmaster Douglas G. Vincent has announced that clerk exams will be given within 3 weeks and urged that all those interested apply to take the job-related tests that can lead to Postal Service employment. em-ployment. Salaries, not including fringe benefits, for clerks and letter carriers begin at $7.27 an hour and increase to $8.56 an hour over an eight-year eight-year period. Annually, this represents a $15,122 starting salary for a full time employee em-ployee that increaes to $17,188 in eight years. "We have not opened our register since 1975, and an examination of it has led us to believe that it is out of date, and that many of the names on the register are people who have moved or for some reason are no longer available to take postal jobs," Postmaster Vincent said.
