With a week of play left in the National League Garden Park maintained the lead. W L Garden Park 12 2 Lions 8 4 Town & Country 8 5 Elks 7 6 Rons 6 6 Rolling Rubber 5 8 Arctic Circle 3 9 Tinks 2 11 Rolling Rubber defeated Arctic Circle 9-2 with Sorenson going the distance on the mound and Town and Country squeaked by Tinks 15-14 with Turner hitting a double for the winners and Roundy a double for Tinks. Garden Park stayed in lead with a 10-8 victory over Rolling Rubber. Jephson and Black were the winning pitchers and Jephson doubled and Gale tripled and doubled. Doubling for Rolling Rubber were Marchant and Sorenson. Ron's overcame Tinks 7-4 in spite of a scoring effort led by Nickerson's double for finks. Starr pitched for the Elks to get a 10-4 victory over Arctic Circle with Nottingham Not-tingham doubling for Arctic Circle. Lions squeaked by Town and Country 9-8 with Sawyers going the distance on the mound. Breagger tripled and Bradshaw doubled for the winners. Town and Country's scoring effort was led by Greg Turner with a home run. Garden Park won another close one with a 19-17 score over Rons. Stout and Jephson were the winning pitchers and doubles were hit bv Middleton, Imlay and Stout. Morton Metalcraft captured cap-tured first place honors in the Big League this year with a record of 7 wins and 3 losses. The record is identical to that of Parks Sportsman's but Morton Metalcraft was declared the league champions because of their record of three wins in five outings against Parks Sportmen's. Final league standings were as follows: Morton Metalcraft7 3 Parks Sportsmen 7 3 Southwestern Realty 1 9 The final game between the two league leaders that determined the league championship was won by Morton Metalcraft by a score ' of 7-6.
