Show Kathryn Adams elected State Lady Elks President held most of (he offices and served as the Cedar City Ladies of Elks President in Mrs. Wm. Gary (Kathryn) Adams of Cedar City was ' elected and installed as the 1979-80 President of the Utah State Ladies of Elks Organization at the fi.rth annual BPOE Convention held at Price in May. The installation luncheon was held in the Price Lodge dining room. Mrs. Ray (LaNore) Lee, Past State President was the installing officer. Mrs. Blaine (Virginia) Miller was the installing usher. Mrs. Bud (Mary) Fullmer was installing in-stalling chaplin. Pinning the flowers were Mrs. J.D. (lone) Mac Murphy and Mrs. Raymond (Louise) Hutchings while music was played at the organ by Mrs. Ken (Pam) Orton, all of Cedar City. The gavel, symbol of authority, was turned over for the coming year from outgoing president, Mrs. Kent (Bonnie) Wheelwright from Bountiful. The Vice Presidents for the coming year are Mrs. Dan (Gaye) Wright, Park City; Mrs. Rex (Alma) Bryant, Brigham City; Mrs. Humbert .(Marion) Rosenberg of Cedar City will serve as the state secretary. Kathryn was honored by, the officers and ladies of the Cedar City BPOE 1550. and the Ladies of Elks Organization from Cedar City with an Open House held in the El Camino Room with all ladies and brothers throughout the state attending. at-tending. Exalted Ruler Jim Hale, and president of the Ladies organization, Mrs. Randy (Janice) Clark had her officers of-ficers Mrs. LaMar (Valrey) Hamblin, Mrs. Bud (Mary) Fullmer, organized and chairmaned the affair. Many helpers were there and worked to prepare the food and serve it to over 400 people. Kathryn has been active in the local ladies organization for the past 21 years. She has AIRS. GARY ADAMS 1971-72. On the state level Kathryn has been active for the past 12 years. She has served as a project chairman chair-man and board member and held all state offices before becoming president. State projects that have been supported by the Ladies in the past are nursing scholarships, equipment a and glasses for the blind and deaf school in Ogden, playground equipment equip-ment for the Mental Hospital in Provo, Girls Village in Kearns and for the past year and t the coming''vear the Child Center in Salt Lake City. Kathryn and her secretary Marion Rosenberg will travel to 17 Ladies Organizations to visit their monthly business meetings. "It is a real honor to serve as the State President and with the encouragement as well as the great support from the Cedar City BPOE 1556 and the Cedar City Ladies of Elks Organization, it should be a real special experience," Mrs. Adams commented. |
