Show Southwest Media Center A new facility that has been headquartered in Iron County, is the Southwest Media Center. Offices are located locat-ed in the Cedar City High School Building. The major objectives of the center were listed by its director, Jerald S. Hawley, as follows: 1. To facilitate and improve classroom instruction by increased knowledge and utilization of instructional media by the teaching and administrative personnel of the service area. 2. To permit enlarged enriched curriculum offerings at all levels of education by creating a film depository and distribution service and by filming educational subject sub-ject matter found in the area. 3. To increase the flexibility and use of the present educational TV programming through video taping of programs for replay at the most educational opportune time. 3. To provide more and better acquisition, dissemination dissemina-tion and distribution of instructional media. Many services are being offered by the center including in-cluding inservice and workshop training programs in the methods and uses of instructional media. Also initiated is a weekly delivery and pickup service of films and other media to be made to each school by delivery vans. Video taping of ETV programs from the State ETV station will be available through the media center and each secondary school will be equipped with a video replay re-play unit so that taped programs can be replayed as many times as the instructor feels is necessary to accomplish ac-complish the goals of the course. The seven school districts to be served by the Media Center include Iron, Washington, Kane, Piute, Garfield, Beaver and Millard. |
