Show Highways Iron County and its major communities com-munities are positioned astride the main Salt Lake City to Los Angeles route U. S. Highway 91. This same strategic highway advantage will also apply when Interstate 15 is completed which will follow essentially es-sentially the same route. Completion Comple-tion of the Interstate System will add still another feather to the Iron County cap in that Iron will be a virtual mid-point between Denver and Los Angeles on the 1-70 route. State highways 56 and 14 provide pro-vide other areas of the county with easy access to the federal arteries and connect U. S. 91 with U. S. 89 which it parallels. Iron County is served by four major ma-jor carriers Garrett Freight Lines, Interstate Motor Lines, Milne Truck Lines, and Pacific Intermountain Express. ' "Zj. i - - . v t t iUV'i Railroad Owing to its location on the main line of the Union Pacific Railroad between Salt Lake City and Los Angeles, An-geles, Iron County enjoys excellent rail transportation. The U. P. main crosses the northeast corner of the county and serves Cedar City with a branch line. Daily scheduling assures as-sures fast, dependable passenger and freight service to all parts of the country through direct connections connec-tions to all major points. Air Service Bonanza Airlines serves Cedar City with two flights daily to Salt Lake City and two daily departures de-partures to Phoenix. Cedar Municipal airport is just two miles from downtown. The field is lighted and has two hard-surfaced hard-surfaced runways 150 feet wide and 6100 feet long and 5200 feet long. The field elevation is 5622 feet. The services and facilities include hangars, overhaul and maintenance shop and weather station. j The FAA Flight Service Sta-' Sta-' tion is one of four in Utah. Services Ser-vices offered by the station include in-clude weather reports every half ' hour, pre flight briefing and acceptance ac-ceptance of flight plans.
