Show WQmh S So a 0 zG3 g d'g odd EFosSugjD ' I The annual Utah Shakespearean Festival held in Cedar City has attracted at-tracted international acclaim as audiences au-diences witness some of the rarest moments ever recorded in the English language. Mirthful comedy come-dy and soul-searing, tragedy spring to life in full color and vigor as penned pen-ned by the immortal Bard of Avon. The stage is an authentic reproduction repro-duction of the Stratford Tiring House. It is indeed a jewel set amid cool, green pine tree trees covered with a canopy of stars. Summer evenings in the mountains require wraps for complete comfort. Breath-taking Elizabethan costumes cos-tumes in silk brocades, woolens, Italian velvets, chiffons and silks of all shades and hues have been constructed according to original designs, accurate in every detail to the period of history portrayed. Seating for patrons cur v e s around the projecting platform stage, and thus the vibrant action and warm humor of Shakespeare's tragedies and comedies is acted out with thrilling immediacy. The audience aud-ience is literally swept up into the play. Talented young men and women, from the best drama schools in the nation, give a new vitality to the old, yet ever-new characters created creat-ed by Shakespeare. Festival attenders arriving early in the evening will be entertained by troubadors and dancing on the green Until the traditional trumpet fanfare heralds the opening processional pro-cessional of the acting company and the production begins to weave its magic spell. The Festival holds full sway in Cedar City from the middle of July to early August. During that time three major works are presented in nightly rotation in order that viewers view-ers might see three plays in three days.
