Show Electric power in Iron County is supplied by the Southern Utah Division Div-ision of California-Pacific Utilities Company. Sources of power are the Colorado River Storage Project of the U. S. Bureau of Reclamation, steam and diesel plants at Cedar City and four hydro plants in Washington Wash-ington County. These sources assure as-sure an ample power supply to meet the needs of industry, irrigation and commercial development. California-Pacific Utilities Company Com-pany will welcome an opportunity to discuss rates and services with any prospective industry and to help select the most favorable rate for their operation.. In addition to these facilities Par-wan Par-wan City operates two hydro-electric plants capable of generating 650 kilowatts of power. The plants are located, one in Parowan City and the other in the mouth of Par-agonah Par-agonah Canyon, and are synchronized synchron-ized in order that both can be oper-ted oper-ted from the Parowan plant. The municipal system distributes power to Parowan and also sells power to Paragonah Town for distribution over its own municipally owned lines. During the 86 day operating season the Utah Parks Company will transport more than 6,600 passengers on tours, serve more than 500,000 meals and employ ISO to 800 persons. |
