Show Employment Rise Employment in Iron County rose 13 between 1964 and March 1965 according to one of the nation's economic indicators "County Business Busi-ness Patterns, 1965-Utah" issued recently re-cently by the U. S. Department of Commerce's bureau of the census. County Business Patterns, now published annually, uses payroll information in-formation gathered the first quarter quar-ter of each calendar year by the Social Security Administration covering cov-ering employment in most kinds of business and industry but excluding exclud-ing notably agricultural and government gov-ernment workers and the self-employed. Number of employees in the county, coun-ty, in businesses covered by the report, re-port, for March 1965 totaled 1650 as against 1459 for the same month a year earlier. First quarter payrolls pay-rolls for the two years were $1.6 million and $1.5 million respective- Retail trade, the largest group of employers in the county, reported a March 1965 total of 664 employees and 3-month payrolls of $491,000. Service firms, the county's second largest group of employees, a a total to-tal of 295 employees and $184,000 in quartely payrolls. Aerial View of Parowan City |
