Show Various Matters Acted On by City Council At a regular meeting of the Parowan City Council on Monday Mon-day night, a varied agenda of city business was discussed and approved by that body, with reports from members of, the group on activities within their departments. The possibility of adding some new stables at the city race track was discussed with a plan set up where a num-1 . ber of stalls would be added each year for the next several ' years. This would be with the help and cooperation of the Red Hill Wranglers. Councilman Charles Burton was authorized to go ahead on a program of mixing an oil I mulch stockpile for use in re- ! wan City hydro-electric plant above Paragonah with the cost of the pond to be $2,000. Robert Walker, Utah State Aeronautics Director met with the city council and a group of interested citizens, concerning concern-ing the proposed improvements improve-ments at the local airport. Mr. Walker reported that financial help is available through the state on a matching basis for city airports. Members of the citizen's group meeting with the council on this project included in-cluded Ted Burton, Roger Batt, Alma Evans and Dan Robison. Bids for the purchase of a new patrol car for use of the city marshal were opened, and thn nrmnrcnt low bidder was Lunt Motor Co. with a bid of $1945.24. This included trade-in trade-in of the old car. Councilman Earl Bunn of the city recreation and public parks department reported the city had received $2500 from the county recreation committee commit-tee following an allocation meeting a week ago. He said this was somewhat less than was received in 1966. pairing city streets. This would include blacktopping for the streets and intersections torn up last fall when new pipe was laid in the water system. Burton also stated that the city ci-ty trash dump had been pushed push-ed up so the citizens now busy with spring cleaning would have plenty of room to dump trash. Councilman Glen Holyoak reported that all city irrigation ditches are now cleaned and the debris is being hauled off as quickly as possible. He stated sta-ted that it is hoped that the irrigation water can be turned into the city by April 1. Councilman D Robinson reported re-ported that a contract had been drawn . up and signed with Parr ronah Town on a cooperative co-operative agreement under which the construction of an equalization pond will be constructed con-structed just below the Paro- |
