Show Western Book Trails Project a Success At Cedar City Library The summer reading program "Western Book Trails" got off to a "bang" last week according to Mrs. Dotson, librarian at Cedar Ce-dar City Public Library. 258 children chil-dren were pre-registered, and seven se-ven more joined the project during dur-ing the first week. The participants were given bookmarks designed especially for the program by regional artists, ar-tists, and include scenes of Old Faithful In Yellowstone National Tark, Devil's Tower National Monument; Round Tower and Ki-va Ki-va in Mesa Verde National Park; Independence Rock; a dinosaur representing Dinosaur National Monument; and a drawing of sea gulls so important in Utah history. Each reader also received a tally sheet to list the books read. The cover picture is a Conestoga wagon superimposed on line drawing of the three states. Mrs. Jean Anderson was the first guest story teller with others oth-ers to follow throughout the summer. |
