Clair Rowley, Iron County Clerk, has submitted a formal leUcr of resignation to the Iron County Commission after 43!2 years of public service on the county level. Rowley, who has received state and national recognition for his work in Iron County, asked ask-ed that his resignation become effective July 1. The commission lias taken the resignation under consideration but has delayed action penaing recommendations from ihe Iron County Republican Committee. Rowley first took office on January Jan-uary 1, 1927, winning a two year post as Iron County Treasurer, then served as Clerk and Auditor before taking over as County Clerk and holding that position for 37 years. In 1953 he was voted the outstanding out-standing county officer of Utah and he has held numerous positions posi-tions in the Utah Association of County Officials, including president, pre-sident, vice president and secretary. secre-tary. He has also served on the et-cutive board of the clerks and auditoris section numerous times. He has been a member of several committees for the national organization. or-ganization. Among his other achievements he was instrumental in the formulation form-ulation of the Five County Organization Or-ganization and served as secretary secre-tary for the first two years and has served additional f.t-rms as secretary of the FCO, since. I He served as the new Parowan Stake's first president and has been active in other affairs of the LDS Church. ' Submission of the resignation was for reasons of health, Rowley Row-ley stated. I |
